The Thrift of It is a curated collection of pre-owned and vintage clothing and accessories for various ages, genders, and sizes.

The Mission

  • My inventory is always changing with new pieces being released regularly.

  • The fashion industry is one of the most wasteful industries in the world. Instead of producing new product, I want to showcase amazing pieces that already exist.

  • The cycle of fast fashion has resulted in garments that often last less than 10 washes. By sourcing pre-owned items, I am able to provide pieces that have already proven their quality over time.

  • I love what I do. I love the hunt and the feeling of finding treasure. That feeling is why so many are turning to resale and buying pre-owned. For those who may still be on the fence about it, I hope my pieces, knowledge, and passion will show there is real value in giving once-loved pieces a new life.

The Curator

Hi, I’m Taylor! I’m your gal for all things thrifted! I grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio and studied Fashion Merchandising and Entrepreneurship at Kent State University. It was at Kent State where I developed a passion for sustainability and small business. After graduating, I started my business online using platforms like Poshmark and Depop. When I moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I switched my focus to in-person sales. I now sell my collection of pre-owned and vintage clothes in two stores on the beach and continue to pop up at markets year-round.
I know I am among good company when I say I love thrifting and finding a good deal. However, I know not everyone has the time or patience to spend hours searching for pre-owned and vintage gems. I do the digging, so you don’t have to. After all, I do this for The Thrift of It!

 FAQs

  • I source from a number of places including online auctions, thrift stores, yard sales, friends and family, etc. I source from all over the country. All items are pre-owned and most of them are vintage. Vintage by definition is 20 years old or older.

  • All pieces are washed and/or steamed. I use a hypoallergenic plant-based detergent.

  • I do my best to carry a wide range of sizes. There is only one of each item available. Vintage sizing does vary. You are always welcome to try items on.

  • Being pre-owned, some pieces may have existing flaws or signs of wear. I do my best to mention any note-worthy flaws before selling an item.

  • All sales are final. If you are unhappy with a purchase, please consider reselling or passing on to a friend!
